Modern Basics Blog Tour

Hi All - Tacha Here!

We are very pleased to be one of the stops on Amy Ellis’ blog tour for her wonderful new book "Modern Basics".

Amy for those of you who have not come across her before is a quilter extraordinaire! Not only does she write the great blog Amy’s Creative Side, which is packed with great tutorials, advice and of course, quilts, but she is also responsible for bringing us the Bloggers Quilt Festival. If that wasn’t enough Amy is also one of the forces behind the Sewing Summit which will take place in October 2011 – quick go and grab your place while you can!

So when I heard that Amy was also writing a book I couldn’t wait to see what she would come up with and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Amy’s book is aimed at beginner quilters and quilters that don’t have a lot of time to quilt! I am sure that resonates with a lot of us.

All the quilts in the book are based on a repetition of a single block, making them quick and easy to put together for both the beginner and more experienced quilter with not a lot of time on their hands! But don’t get me wrong – the quilts in this book are not simple looking.

Tumbling Cubes is possibly my favourite in the book. But only possibly! There are a lot of contenders.

I love the splashes of colour and the quilting on this so much. And to think it is made from just one block being rotated. Love it!

You will find there are lots of projects in this book that make you want to reach for your rotary cutter and dive into your stash.

Amy has very kindly offered to give one of you a chance to ooh and ahh over the book yourself. Just leave a comment on this post to be entered in the draw for a copy of the book. We will choose a winner on 8th March. Good luck!

For another chance to win a copy of the book hop over to AmyLouWho tomorrow (5th March)
