Hmm, I wasn't a party dress kind of girl. But I did have a sailor dress for Easter that I loved.
ReplyDeleteNo party dresses - but my first dress for kindergarten was sewn by my mom and was a jiminy cricket print with a red background! I loved the print and was so proud to be wearing it my first day to kindergarten! elizabethlehman@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love those fabrics! I had one homemade dress when I was a kid, and it was my favorite for parties, playgrounds, and anything else in between. I even remember scraping my knees pretty badly in that dress, which escaped unscathed somehow. The dress was a dark green calico print with little puffy sleeves. I loved that thing!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite "special" outfit was a skirt, blouse and vest made for me when I was five by my mom and a close family friend. My mom made the blouse - a tiny floral print in pink, yellow and orange. The family friend crocheted the skirt (it was lined with the same fabric as the blouse) and the vest out of a very bright pink yarn. I wore it to a wedding and my grandmother told me I was so pretty, she wouldn't be surprised if they asked me to be the flower girl. I sat in that pew fully expecting someone to come ask me to be in the wedding, and was terribly disappointed when they didn't.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a party dress, but there was a red dress my mother thrifted I played dress up in quite often. :)
ReplyDeletelinsgee@msn.com
My best party dress that I recall was aqua with white flowers all over, and a broderie anglaise strip vertical on the bodice. Very sweet!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dress when I was 4 years old was all white and pink and had a twirly skirt (one of those that when you spin they make a pretty circle). I wore it everywhere, not just to party. Two years later I hated dresses and never wore them again for the next ten years :)
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous fabrics! I especially love that cheater hexagon print. My favorite dress from childhood was the pink and white dress I wore as a flower girl for my aunt Liz's wedding. I even had a matching summer hat, kinda like a Kentucky Derby hat. (this was back when hats were popular at weddings)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was not a dress but a full length coat.. aqua with a white lining. My Mom made this to go over my first prom dress when I was in high school.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance at such a generous giveaway.
jleibfried@aol.com
I had a pink princess dress that my grandmother got me to celebrate my first day of school. I loved that dress so much!
ReplyDeleteI have a lovely dress with a velvet bodice, lace collar, and striped taffeta skirt. thanks for the chance to win - just love those fabrics.
ReplyDeleteChris Aiton
My favorite party dress when I was a kid was a red plaid drop-waist dress with a white collar. Ah, the '80s. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite party dress when I was little was a blue dotted swiss dress my grandmother made. I have five sisters and we all had the same style dress in different colors - all dotted swiss!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite party dress of my childhood was a little floral dress my Mum made for me to wear to my 3rd grade 'graduation'. She wasn't much of a seamstress so it was truly a labor of love for her. It was frilly and twirly and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!

My favorite was a sunny yellow smocked bodice dress that a man named Henri (a business partner of my father's) brought all the way from France. I wore it nearly to pieces, and recently found it in a cedar chest in my mother's attic. I still love it.
ReplyDeleteha ha...my favorite party dress was the one my little sister wore...every day...orange sateen with ridiculous ribbons...i think my mom made it for a costume party and Weise just never took it off...she wore it everywhere and dragged around a wooden bead necklace with oodles of reclaimed, forgotten, lost keys attached to the end. ha ha...good memories...mind you, Weise about about 4 at the time...and very spoiled.
ReplyDeletenothing funny about these gorgeous fabrics though...just lovely...lvoe the cheater fabric.
My favorite dress from my childhood was hand sewn by my grandmother. It was lavender and had beautiful smocking around the top. I didn't appreciate it then, but I sure do now! I can't wait to put it on my own daughter when she grow up :)
ReplyDeleteIt was pink and fluffy and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteNot a party dress type of girl. But I do remember a friend's mother bringing us back hot pants from a trip away when we were about 10.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty much of a tom-boy, so few dresses for me, but i remember a denim jumper my mom made for me with a little applique apple on the bib. And then there was the most beautiful flower girl dress I had the chance to wear. So my two favorites - at two opposite ends of the spectrum: denim and satin & lace
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a very dressy girl but there was one dress that I utterly loved as a small girl. It was blue, covered in little blue flowers and I loved it so much that it never went back into the wardrobe; it would stay out, hung on the doorknob or anywhere where I could still see it if I wasn't in it!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite party dress was violet and had Barbie on the front. It also had the most gorgeous ruffle skirt :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite party dress was a gold/black brocade that my mother made for an uncle's wedding. Since my aunt made the same dress for my two older cousins, I wore mine, and then the ones handed down from my cousins as we grew. kathryn dot laposata @ gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used to make me and my sister outfits and dresses. She made me an Easter dress once that I vividly remember because it was pink, which I didn't come to love until later in life. : )Love this fabric.

halladay@umich.edu
my grandmother was an amazing seamstress who made all my dress until nearly junior high. One of my favorites was a dress with strawberry bring that had a matching quilted vest! i really should scan a picture. She also used to make matching easter dresses for me and my teddy bear. so cute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun collection. I haven't seen these fabrics before. My favorite dress was the one my mom made for my baptism. It was a white dotted fabric and twirled beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember any particular dress but I remember desperately wanting my mom to make me a poodle skirt - I loved how you could twirl in them!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember any party dresses but I have been making dresses for my daughter lately...maybe she will remember hers!?
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to win this sweet fabric!
sntbosch@msn.com
The first party dress that I remember was a sleeveless pink and white pinstripe with white lace down the front of the bodice. My grandmother made matching dresses for me, my two younger sisters, my mom, and herself!
ReplyDeletelolyvoth@gmail.com
I had one of those frilly,quilty,lacy,ribbon-y, over the top dresses from Jessica McClintock (sp?) - oh the '80s! when I was 11. I have a picture of myself in it. I'm really glad I discovered minimalism soon after.
ReplyDeleteThink, 1965? 66? Dark blue velvet; puffy sleeves; and (horrors) a crinoline! it was poofy and soft and beautiful and I loved it to death.
ReplyDeleteMy mother always sewed coordinating Christmas dresses for my sister and me. The bubble dresses were my favorite...although I opted to skip that trend when it returned!
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dress as a kid was this purple floral dress that I had in kindergarten. I wanted to wear it all the time! Ok- I just thought of about 4 more that I loved then- I was definitely a dress girl when I was little- and I still love a good party dress!
rebeccajweber@gmail.com
My all time favorite was a pink striped dress with puffy sleeves and a lacy white pinafore that went over top that my mom made! She is such an amazing seamstress and basically copied a lot of my clothes from American Girl doll clothes. I loved that dress to death!
ReplyDeletejordanelise@hotmail.com
I had a plaid taffeta dress that I loved very much.......I remember crying when I had to hand-it-down to my little sister!
ReplyDeleteRed velvet skirt, white satin top with a red bolero vest! Loved that dress! Very twirl;y and it made me feel so grown up! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love pastel fabric! My favorite party dress was chiffon floral! This new fabric line is lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh that was a while ago; but, I remember a dress I loved that was probably from Mexico. It was crinkle cloth and best of all it was perfect to twirl in. Love the new fabrics.
ReplyDeletemarilynpond@yahoo.com
Linda's email address is Linda.Nell.Cates@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteha ha -- my favorite was not a party dress but a pink slinky nightgown with white ruffled trim. the best part? i believe it was 100% polyester. Totally tacky, but it made me think I was a princess! :) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I don't remember any part dresses from my young childhood, but in high school I had this awesome vintage formal that I bought at the thrift store. It was pink satin with little cap sleeves and sweetheart neckline and I would wear vintage pink heels with pearls! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway.
My favorite party dress was a dress my mom made me for kindergarten. It was Care Bear music fabric and had loads of ruffles. I still dream about that dress, and my mom regrets having given it away. Hopefully it's still out there somewhere bringing smiles to some little girl! :)
ReplyDeleteI had this green smock that had big birds head embroidered on the the top. Loved it. I also had some embroidered bell bottom jeans. I was a child of the 70's and my mother was happy to oblige in her embroidery! I was too much of tom-boy for dresses.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous fabric line! And I love the cheater hexagon print!
ReplyDeleteI'd say my favorite dress was my prom dress. My mom made it so it has extra sentimental value!
ambwhites at gmail dot com
It was white with lace and little pink accents. I felt beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnying that spinned...it had to twirl a ton. Then Id throw some jeans underneath it and go climb trees. Jencarltonbailly at gmail
ReplyDeleteI had a beautiful red velvet dress with a white lace colour that my grandmother made for me. Being a tomboy, you didn'y often find me in a dress, but that one, I loved wearing!
ReplyDeleteMy dress sounds almost like "What comes next?" above except mine was dark green velvet, but it was made by my grandmother as well.
ReplyDeleteI loved a lime green and white turtle print dress that my mom made from fabric we got on a trip to Key West, Florida. It was kind of a shirt dress with a collar but flared into a nice a- line shape from under the arms - very plain so the pattern of the fabric really was showcased. I wore it to my grade 8 graduation with white lace up to the knee gladiator sandals. (That would be about 1970) I now have he dress taken apart and the extra fabric that I want to make into a quilt. The turtle designs are still so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI had a red party dress with tiny yellow flowers. With my perm I looked like Annie.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dress was made by my Mother out of yellow organdy. It had a full circle skirt and a big round collar with scollops edged with gathered white lace. It surely did make me feel special.
ReplyDeleteGreat give-away! My favourite dress was given to me from my Grandma for my 5th birthday. It was white and had beautiful ribbons that flowed down the skirt.
ReplyDeleteI had this white satiny party dress with a wide ruffle at the neck. It had tone on tone flowers on it and I loved it.
ReplyDeletei had a blue dress that my mom made. it had a ribbon belt (made up of 4 ribbons!). I loved it!
ReplyDeletenettiepete at gmail dot com
My mom used to smock when I was a kid so it was probably one of the dresses she smocked for me. Thankfully, she saved all of them!
ReplyDeletejennifer.wellborn@gmail.com
Love those dark blue flowers. My favorite dress was dark green corduroy, with white shirt cuffs and collars. It had a matching headband, which I wore as often as I could, so that it didn't match in the end. It lasted years, as it was made by a thrifty grandma and regularly let out. I should see about making one for the baby girl.
ReplyDeletewell we were quite poor growing up so I didn't ever have a party dress or parties to wear it to if I had one. I only remember one frilly light blue dress that someone gave me. it even had a fake pearl necklace attached! Hopefully I won't ever subject my daughter to something so ugly it will stick in her mind in 20 years!
ReplyDeletei had a cute sundress made out of strawberry shortcake material. i loved it!
ReplyDeletekarinamckenzie at hotmail dot com
My Grandmama sewed a dress with a matching headband for me when i was getting ready to start Kindergarten. It was a pretty dark-yellow dress, and she sewed daisies on it around the hem, and on the headband. I wore it to my first day of Kindergarten and for picture day... But for picture day, i "borrowed" a pair of my Grandmama's clip-on purple-beaded earrings, unbeknownst to my Mom & Grandmama. Boy, did they get a laugh out of that picture (once they got over the shock)!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this amazing give-away!
=-)

Love this fabric line! When I was five my mom made me this beeeeuuuutttiful white dress with little blue flowers with flounces. I remember thinking I was the most beautiful creature on the planet. ;0)
ReplyDeletemvansciver@gmail.com
Cheater hexies! Yay! Well, as a child of the 80s/early 90s, I specifically remember a dress that involved gold lame...and some major poofy crimpered hair... oy!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I had a favorite party dress, I was a tomboy as a kid and didn't really where a lot of dresses. We did have our "Patti dresses" that we all (we were a family of 4 girls) wore when we needed to dress up. They were made by a friend of the family named Patti-hence the name of the dresses!
ReplyDeleteMy childhood favorite was always shorts and a tee shirt. Now I'm grown up I really like the pretty party dresses!!
ReplyDeletemaijalepore@me.com
No party dresses for me! I was a rough and tumble tomboy. I do, however, remember a very groovy pair of American flag pants (it was the early 70's) that I was very proud of and that I remember wearing while carrying around my equally groovy transistor radio.
ReplyDeleteOh, my mom made me a blue, red and white plaid dress with Raggedy Ann decals on the pockets that I thought was just stunning in kindergarten!
ReplyDeleteWhat cute fabric! Congratulations Mo.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I had a "party dress" exactly when I was little but I did have a dress with a giant watermelon slice for a pocket which was probably my favorite.
Love this! I didn't really have any party dresses either :( I think that I need to get a fabulous one to make up for that!
ReplyDeleteI had a sunsuit I loved that my big sister made for me. It was yellow with jungle animals printed on it and it has a matching pair of shorts to go underneath.
ReplyDeleteI remember Sunday dresses complete with gloves, purse, hat, frilly socks & mary janes. For funzies, I used to turn petunia flowers upside down and pretend that they were girls in beautiful ball gowns.
ReplyDeleteNot a party dress but my favourite one was very similar to sundress pattern by Heather Ross http://heatherross.squarespace.com/download-mendocino-sundress-pa/2008/8/5/free-dress-pattern-download-for-mendocino-fabrics.html.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric wasn't as cute as HR fabrics. But I loooved that dress, it was so fresh and comfy.
Warm regards
Elena
My Mom was the most fantastic seamstress and she could make me anything I could dream up. For a prom at a military academy, I wanted to look like a "southern belle" and I envisioned a white taffeta strapless gown with full skirt and an "overskirted ruffle" pulled up on the sides. It was simply gorgeous and it looked so good next to those military uniforms! Mom just started drapping fabric over the dress form she owned and made a gown that fit me perfectly. She was amazing with her talent!
ReplyDeleteI had this cute gray polka dot dress that I loved, I guess I've always loved gray! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful friend of my Mom's made me my junior high graduation dress. I got to pick the pattern and fabric and I thought it was just beautiful. It was bright yellow with soft white flowers. I love the fabric featured today. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember a favorite party dress from my childhood but I do remember dresses and outfits that were hand-me-downs from my older (6.5 years) sister, some that my mom made herself. It's fun to look back at school pictures where my sister and I are wearing the same outfit for the same grade, just separated by 6 years (there are only a couple of school year photos like that).
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty fabrics! I'd love to add some to my collection. With three girls, you know I could come up with something pretty to do with them. :)
wilke [at] lulubloom [dot] com
Ohhh, love this so much (especially the hexagon cheater print)! My favourite party dress was white with navy blue polka-dots; it had a big full skirt and puffy sleeves - I actually have a pretty great picture of me wearing it!
ReplyDeleteOne year for Christmas, my mother and I had matching dressing- like how girls have dolls that have a matching dress- but it was my mother and I...don't know whose idea it was but it was cute at the time!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dress was a yellow chiffon pleated masterpiece! I refused to take it off and kicked my father in the shin. It was the only time I was ever spanked as a child. LOL! I'm still getting into trouble!!
ReplyDeletemy favorite party dress was a red poufy thing with puff sleeves and a big white lace collar! i think i wore it around the house everyday that winter! i loved the full skirt that twirled out.
ReplyDeletethis fabric looks beautiful...much nicer than the red wood-grain of that historic dress!
My favorite party dress was a dress I wore in my uncles wedding when I was about 6 or 7 years old. It was my first SILKY dress and I LOVED IT! I think my mother still has it in her hope chest! I could look into that to see if she really does still have it!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a party dress girl when I was younger but when I was older, I loved my blue polo shirt dress! I wore it to school so many times it started tattering on the bottom... :)
ReplyDeleteOne that I most remember was a Gunnie Sax dress that I made for myself for 9th grade graduation. I still have the dress, but can't actually wear it!
ReplyDeleteI have a lacy green dress from a wedding I was in as a child. It had a hoop skirt under it and I had a hard time trying to sit down in it without it flipping up!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, fun fabric - thanks for sharing.
I did not wear dresses much and still prefer jeans. I cant even remember a party dress. The only dresses I remember are bridesmaid dresses I wore which were very pretty and frilly.
ReplyDeleteI remember me and my sister had lots of matching dresses even though we weren't twins. Lots of flower girl dresses from aunts and uncles weddings. Lots of dresses made by grandma for getting pictures made in at Olen Mills.
ReplyDeletethe fabrics look so pretty *_*
ReplyDeletei had a pink sailor moon dress when i was little that i wore a lot.
Easter dresses were always fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually made some of my party dresses, and my 8th grade graduation dress!
Mo's fabric is too cute!
My grandmother made matching reversible wrap skirts for me and my sister. We wore those everywhere with homemade corsages of gardenias or violets for special events. mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteI remember when prairie skirts were popular - my mom made me one and I wanted to wear it all the time!!
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I had matching dresses but in different colors. The best part about them was that they matched a paining my parents had of 2 young girls in dresses that were strikingly similar to ours. It was like we were the little girls in the painting. Pretty cool when you are 6! :)
ReplyDeletecdean1018(at)gmail.com
I had this purple dress with a winnie the pooh embroidery on the front collar, I wish I still had it! It was super cute!
ReplyDeleteI was a bridesmaid when I was three and had a big hooped skirt and puffball sleves. The fabric was small floral blue and which which was soooooo early 80s. My gosh it was a special dress. Seriously gutted when my Mother donated it to the Nursery dressing up box!
ReplyDeletethat fabric is stunning - what a beautiful prize.
ReplyDeletemy favourite party dress from my childhood is the one i wore to my 2nd birthday party. it was made of red corduroy, and i wore it with white tights, red mary janes, and a string of brightly couloured ceramic beads that one of my mum's friends brough back from an overseas adventure. with my blonde curly hair i must ad mit i looked pretty cute, and the photos from that day are still some of my favourites now that i'm a grown up :)
My favorite was probably the first (and only outfit) I made myself!
ReplyDeletePatty D.
My favorite party dress was a pale peach chiffon dress I was supposed to wear as the flower girl in my cousins wedding. Unfortunately I woke that morning all puffy ...I had caught the mumps from my sister and cried and cried. I wore that dress every chance I had, until I outgrew it and it was handed down to my sister.
ReplyDeletemy favourite party dress was fabulous. it was white and pink cotton on the top and the bottom was knife pleat matt satiny stuff! the best bit though wasd the pink velvet tie. boy did i love that dress!
ReplyDeleteMy mum was a demon with the sewing machine, and being late 80s meant we had some amazing raaraa skirted dresses etc, but my fav had to be the one with a sheared top and balloon appliqué. I so underestimated her talent, and now Im to old to convince her to make any more, lol!
ReplyDeleteI love the cheater hexie fabric!
I don't really remember if I had a favourite party dress but did have a fav dress. Really simple with a elastic waist and short sleeves and bright Red. I wore it everyday for weeks (or seemed like it).
ReplyDeletejotsmum[at]gmail[dot]com
I did have several party dresses growing up, Mum would make me a new one each year. My favourite, if I can remember that far back, was a red velvet dress with a white lace collar. This would have been way back in the '50s, before most of you were born I guess. I have a photograph of me wearing it somewhere (yes it's in colour), definitely a show stopper ;o)

I have never been much of a dress girl, my favorite dress was my wedding dress :)
ReplyDeleteAll I can remember is a blue dress with a big white collar and huge puffed sleeves. It was the 80s; what can I say. court326@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI wasn't much of a party dress girl but I did have a favorite summer dress. It was white with elastic around the waist and thin red strings to tie for straps and COVERED in cute little dachshunds! I still have it in a box!
ReplyDeletekasimpkins@gmail.com
my favorite outfit... a dark blue Polly finders dress my Nanny bought for me when I was little. Love it and have started smocking in hopes for a grandchild who will love her special dresses the way I did!
ReplyDeleteIt was a light blue dress with puff sleeves a drop waist and a short eyelet skirt. I wish I still had that dress but I think it was one of the many things that were destroyed when the volcano erupted...
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say we didn't have party dresses growing up. Buy my mom could decorate a cake like no ones business. I can remember the year she decorated my cake with a My Little Pony. I think I'll start a party dress tradition for my girls.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a party dress, but I was a flower girl in a wedding and wore my red dress every chance I got...to church, to kindergarten, even to play in :)
ReplyDeleteLove that fabric! How cute! My favorite party dress when I was little was a yellow and white, high waisted dress with white ruffles along the bottom that my Mother made me for my 5th birthday. She also made my twin brother a yellow shirt from the same fabric. I actually think it was from a feed sack. Telling my age, aren't I? We looked so cute!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite party dress was a deep blue one my mother made. It was poofy and have matching blue lace on it.
ReplyDeleteNot a dress--a psychedelic pantsuit complete with big white zipper with ring zip pull. The swirly pattern was blue and white until the knees when it swirled into a gigantic bell bottom in red and white. Groovy, man.
ReplyDeleteSue at suehamlett@yahoo.com
My favorite dress up dress was a flower girl dress from my aunts wedding. I wore it long past the time that it fit me, but it was fun. Thanks for the chance.

Beautiful Fabric!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dress-up dress was my mother's wedding gown -- it was worn for many many Halloween dances as a kid. I loved it! (And still have it)
Thanks :)

I had this yellow dress with pastel ribbons on it. I just adored it and I wore it for as long as I could.

My mum made both my sister and i a Holly Hobby style dress with the bonnet and the over laid apron and bonnet were patchwork,I had blues and my sisters was in pinks. Oh how i wish we still had them and my mum, she passed away from breast cancers 3 years ago. Although they weren't party dresses as such we wanted to wear them any chance we got. All I have to remember them by is a blurry photo of my sister and i proudly wearing these beautiful dresses. Knowing how mum didn't like to waste time I am amazed she took the time to cut up and piece together these dresses/aprons/bonnets.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time to visit your site. Very excited about all this modern quilting I have come across lately.
ReplyDeleteAs far as a party dress.....when I was little I always wanted, what I call a frufru dress.....all the bells and whistles. Baby blue, lots of layers on the bottom and lots of ruffles on top. I was so excited to get this because we didn't have a lot of money growing up, but this was a splurge. I was so proud and felt so beautiful in it. Looking back at pictures, I am not sure why. lissaneyhartpc@yahoo.com
I'm afraid I was not a girlie girl with memories of a favorite dress. I have wonderful memories, though of tree climbing and roller skating and playing outside until the streetlights came on! But I DO love those fabrics! Thanks for the givaway! Polly
ReplyDeleteOooh, my grandma had made me a red velvet dress with slightly puffy sleeves and trimmed with white cotton lace. I have fond memories of Christmases in that dress when it was too big, just right and then (in hindsight... literally) to short :)
ReplyDeletefruitandfoliage@gmail.com
it was a blue one my mom made with a sailor collar
ReplyDeleteI would say my favorite party dress was the pink silk dress my godmother made for me when I was around 10 yrs old as a princess dress for Halloween. Wish I still had it!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dress as a little girl was a flower girl dress. The skirt looked like big pastel flower petals. Loved that dress.
ReplyDeleteI didn't wear dresses, but my fave party outfit was a matching leggings/tank top white outfit edged in lace
ReplyDeletethrouthehaze at gmail dot com
My favorite party dress was a green dress with pin dot polka dots. It had smocking on the top, with a wide white collar trimmed in lace. Very cute. Our preschool allowed us to give surveys as a fun activity, and one day I surveyed the class about my dress. Everyone except a kid named Todd liked the dress. Funny, that's the only thing I remember about the preschool - the boy who hated my dress!
ReplyDeleteoh! I was a flower girl when I was 5 - and the dress was an eyelet concoction with a ruffled neck and tiers and a peach floral ribbon belt. I wore that dress for at least 2 Halloweens, my mom just kept adding lace to the bottom. I actually still have the ribbon belt!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite will be the one I wore on my 5th birthday party, which was kind of a grand celebration.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cream colored dress with some dark floral design and I loved it!
Thank you.
My favourite party dresses were the ones that my local kid's clothes shop had - all pink and ruffly and fluffy. Oh how I longed for those dresses and mum would never buy them. Now of course I see why because they were VERY pink and ruffly and rather foul, but I can still see them hanging there 35 years later :) jacqui (dot) craig (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteMy favourite party dress was a sweet little cobalt blue dress with white daisies embroidered on it, a sweet peter pan collar and a tie to go around the back.

Hmmm, I don't remember any of my party dresses specifically, although I do remember getting excited every Easter knowing that a new dress was coming. The dress that stands out in my memory is one that my mom made me, and made matching for my sister. It was a bright blue with tiny flowers, very simple sleeveless raglan style with self-bias tape to finish the edges and that tied in bows at the shoulder. I still like that style.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite party dress was pink with huge white spots on it - and I made it myself when I was ten!
ReplyDeleteall the best
I had a dress much like the ones that have recently become popular again, with a black tank-top like part, a wide middle elastic band, and a fluffy colorful gathered skirt. I wore it for years. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember having a party dress that was special, but living in Alaska we always celebrated Alaska Day (October 18th) by women wearing long dresses and bonnets and men growing beards and wearing older fashioned clothes. My favorite long dress was made by my momma and her friend and we all three matched, bonnets and all. Even though I can't still get into mine, I still have it and it is now over 40 years old!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember a favouite dress but I do remember a favourite pair of shorts. They were butterfly shorts. I remember the fabric vividly. It was a Hawain print. Dark turquoise background with gold hibiscus flowers. I wore those until I could no longer no up the button and breathe.
ReplyDeleteMy mum made this adorable blue gingham frilly thing, I loved it so much I even wore it for school photos 2 years running.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little girl I lived for 1 year in Sri Lanka where my dad was on a assignment. I still remember that we were invited to a local wedding and my mum got me a lilac dress with tiny sequins, which made me feel like a princess. Even after I'd grown out of the dress, touching that fabric made me feel all special again!
ReplyDeleteloesalexandra@gmail.com
My favourite party dress was yellow and I think it had pink and orange flowers/poppies. It was so bright and colourful and it had a kind of ruffled waistband and there was a ribbon that tied up at the back. I absolutely loved that dress; I think I might still have it somewhere! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite childhood dress was a soft yellow dress with smocking and tiny embroidered flowers. A very sweet dress.
ReplyDeleteI was 5-6 years old, and it was dark blue with white dots and it had an underskirt who just peeked out.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was the most princess-like thing I ever had (and it was). It is in my basement waiting for my daughter to be big enough - cant wait!
puk @ bakblog . dk
I didn't have a party dress but we did get new dresses for Easter every year. My favorite was a pastel sear sucker plaid. I loved the colors and texture.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
I didn't have a party dress but my fave one was a white dress with little strawberries on it. It was so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance. Those fabrics are gorgeous!

My mum has just given back to me the party dress I wore when I was 5 years old! It's a sort of green & blue gingham, full length with a frill round the bottom, little puff sleeves and a white broderie anglaise insert at the neck line. It came from M&S and my best friend had the same dress but in pink!
ReplyDeleteMy mom made all of my clothes when I was little. My favorite was a pink blouse with little heart-shaped buttons with a pink print skirt. Very girly.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite party attire was a red and black gypsy style skirt that my mum made, it has tiny ladybirds all over it and black ric rac. I still have it and now watch my kids dress up in it.
ReplyDeletei will never forget my first dress when i was 1 year old
ReplyDeleteit was a christian dior little pink dress
i saw my self wearing it in pictures and i think it was the cutest thing ever!
I was the class princess for May Day in the third grade. My mom made me a long white dress. I did feel like a princess! t.herin@smha.com

ReplyDeleteMy mother always dressed me in GAP, patent leathers and such dresses while all the other girls wore jeans so ... I began disliking wearing them. My favorite thing to dress up in as a young girl was aprons ( my mother had a ton of old ones ). I pretended that I was Cinderella waiting for my prince charming and my happily ever after.
My favorite outfit was a 'fried orange' pair of hot pants! Think I was channelling some serious ABBA. I just loved them :)
ReplyDeleteMy Mom was an amazing seamtress and could sew anything and everything. She made all of our cloth, but, my fav was a dress and penifore for my 6th birthday. It was a brown flower print dress with a solid brown penifore. Odd color choice, but, I loved that dress and I thought I was a princess everytime I wore it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us go back to our childhood menories, and share our stories.
My mom had made me a dress for a wedding. It was made from a floral print so at 5 years old I was telling people that I was the REAL flower girl because the flower girl didn't even have flowers on her dress!!
ReplyDeleteI actually hated fluffy dresses when I was little, I was such a Tom Boy, when I was a teenager my favorite party dress was my sea foam green, boat necked Prom dress. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! And my ultimate favorite now is my wedding dress! It fit perfectly and flowed so beautifully. But NOW my favorite dresses on my girls have chiffon style fabric to make them flow.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dress was a white empire dress with satin ribbon trim. The sleeves had a ruffle on the end trimmed in satin. I thought it was so beautiful back in the 1960's...
ReplyDeleteMy Mother made my favorite party dress when I was about eight, green skirt with a green & white top. Oh how I loved that dress!
ReplyDeleteMy mom made a pink satin slip to year under my organdy first Communion dress. I alsways felt beautiful wearing that dress.
ReplyDeleteProbably my pink layered dress I wore to my uncle's wedding in 1968!
ReplyDeleteI do remember I had a fancy blue toole dress with white polka dots on it. I spilled some Mercurochrome all over it and ruined it and then got scared that my mother was going to get mad so I wadded the dress up and stuck it in the hall closet. She never said anything to me about it but surely she's found it by now!!
ReplyDeleteFor Easter when I was about 10, my mom made dress bor me and my sister. Mine was lavendar and may explain why to this day my favorite color is purple!
ReplyDeleteI was a tomboy, so not a big dress wearer. I did have a smocked sundress with ties that I can remember.
ReplyDeleteI learned to sew as a freshman in high school and for one of my school dances, I made this "beautiful" dress out of tafeta. It looked like a princess dress (at the time, this is what I thought) with a cream colored bodice with puffy wine colored sleeves and skirt. I was very proud of that dress - wish I would have kept it, it would have given my daughters a good laugh!
ReplyDeleteThe only real party dress I had was a floor length, empire-waist gown for a Filipino debut sort of thing. Sadly, it was lost in one of our many moves as a military family.
ReplyDeleteThe dress that comes to mind wasn't in my childhood. It was a dress I wore in my 20's. It was a cotton dress with bright, large red flowers, much like some of the current Kaffe Fassett designs. It had cap sleeves and a tight bodice with a button front and belt. The skirt was a very wide flare so when I moved fast it twirled around me. Everyone commented on it, and I called it my "Lana Turner Patio Dress" because I always felt like I was going to a summer patio party when I wore it. (BTW, I was in my 20's in the 70's.)
ReplyDeleteMy mother made my favorite party dress - this was a psychedelic patterned halter style "maxi" dress. This was 1969 - believe it or not, a few months ago I was helping my mother clean out boxes in her attic and we found this dress, along with all the scrap fabric and the pattern - I swear my mother cannot throw out ANYTHING! (but I was so secretly glad she kept this!) So I brought it home and will find something to do with it - perhaps line the back of a frame with it and put in a picture of me wearing the dress on my birthday - LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great giveaway!

My mom bought me a navy blue nautical dress with a white collar for my dad's retirement ceremony from the coast guard. I LOVED it. Looking back at the pictures now is amazingly funny, though.
ReplyDeletethanks for the fun giveaway!
I don't remember any party dresses but my grandma made me an Easter dress every year... and then made a quilt for my high school graduation featuring the fabrics from those old dresses! So fun!
ReplyDeleteI loved getting all girled up when I was little! I had a sweet little white dress that was covered in multi-colored polka dots. So fun! What a great giveaway - love that cheater hexie print.
ReplyDeleteI had a dress that I wore for my sixth birthday. It had a short skirt with a crinoline and it would fly up when I would twirl around. Couldn't get away with that now. . .
ReplyDeleteMy mom made all my dresses as a child, but my favorite had an extra something special... bloomers! I must have had a doll that had a pair and begged her to add them to the dress. I probably looked like Raggedy Ann!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dress was dark blue double knit polyester with white scotty dogs! Loved that dress.
ReplyDeleteOne of my earliest memories is of my "bows on the pocket dress".
ReplyDeleteIt was a little soft lilac color with a tiny flower print. It had a puffy setin sleeve and a round color; the best part was 2 little pockets that were sorta gathered on the front of the dress and each little pocket had a darker purple shade velvet bow on them.
Oh how I loved that dress.

My favorite party dress when I was little was a beautiful red taffeta frock with a big tulle underskirt. I still have it - although it is now patched in numerous places and the tulle is missing big chunks. It's the perfect dress up dress for the little ones now. It still makes me happy every time I see it!
ReplyDeleteI am totally drawn to the blues in this line! What a generous give away.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't remember any dresses from when I was young. BUT - I do remember this fluffy tule slip that I had to wear under my dresses. My older sister and I had a little brother and we used to make him wear it when he wanted to play with us. If he wanted to play with the girls.. he needed to dress like one. LOL We have pictures to prove it. Sometimes with a scarf in his hair.
ReplyDeleteHe will always be our baby brother - even though he's currently 6 foot tall and in Afghanistan. Only a real man can wear a dress!
I wasnt much for party dresses but my favorite school dress was a hideous black jumper with a red collar, primary colored letters and numbers and apples for buttons.

Love this line! My favorite party dress was small print red flower dress that my grandma wade - but the best part was that it had matching bloomers! My lil sis had a matching one in blue - and we used to wear them around the house even when we were way too big for them!
ReplyDeleteParty dresses weren't big at our house so much as pretty matching dresses for myself and my 2 sisters, always for Easter. As a tomboy, I couldn't stand wearing them and I was always the "purple" child. Sadly, it's not one of my favourite colours now, but I do to wear cute dresses now!... Great giveaway too!

thanks,

My favorite dress was one I called my "San Diego Dress" because I wore it to my brother's graduation from Marine boot camp at Camp Pendleton. It was a Kate Greenaway dress in pink and white.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't much of a dress kind of girl but I loved dressing up in my mother's prom dress that she saved just in case she had a daughter who loved to play dress up...
ReplyDeleteJennifer :)
My grandmother made me a Strawberry Shortcake pink gingham dress with lace for my Kindergarten graduation. It was my most beloved dress ever. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI had this bright red twirly party dress that was fantastic. I still dream about it... lol. :D
ReplyDeleteI had a Holly Hobbie dress that I loved so much because when I twirled it flapped out just right :)
ReplyDeleteI had THE coolest (at least I thought so!) red and white checked dress!
ReplyDeleteIt had white eyelet lace and lot of ruffles! I remember being so sad when it no longer fit me. I think my mom was relieved though because I wanted to wear it every day! :)
My mom made me a patchwork cheater cloth long dress for my 4th grade cello concert. In the 70's, I thought I was soooo cool in this outfit. Being a tall child paid off, as my mom made it into a mini dress for 6th grade :) Fabric scraps went to my Dad to tie up our tomato plants. A year later we found 2 bird nests that contained that patchwork cheater cloth scraps.
ReplyDeleteThe dress I loved the most was not a party dress but my First Communion dress when I was 8. It was all white but I remember it being gorgeous!
ReplyDeletemyers54@comcast.net
I had a blue organdy dress...light blue...with a 6 inch hem. It had a very full skit and little cap sleeves. I thought it was the greatest thing!! I wore it with white sandles and possibly my first nylon hose ever!!!
ReplyDeletejtrott522@gmail.com
My favorite dress would have to be the one my mom made for me for my 8th grade graduation. Pink and white eyelet, with tiny pink flowers. Made my graduation feel extra special (mind you these were the 80's!!)
ReplyDeleteI was in a christmas play one year and the "costume" dress was fabulous! All purple with rhinestones and tulle--they let me keep it. I was 10! it was something I wanted to wear everywhere!
ReplyDeletewhite sailor dress with blue trim. sleeveless. loved it!
ReplyDeleteI was more of a favorite bathing suit kid. Pool parties were big when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite party dress was a little poodle skirt my mom made for me when I was 5. I loved to spin in it!
ReplyDeletemelissacorry at hotmail dot com
My favorite was a big poufy pink flower girl dress!
ReplyDeletecole.stephanie@Gmail.com
A tiered, light beige floral long dress that had an off the shoulder band with trim. I was maybe 8? My dad always bought me a dress at Easter and this one I still remember. thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOh those are adorable prints! And I love love love the cheater fabric!!
ReplyDeletebomara@gmail.com
My favorite party dress was the smocked white dress my mother made for me to wear to my aunt's wedding. It has sead pearls sewn into the smocked diamond shapes on the bodice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway question! My favourite party dress was known as my 'Lady Di dress'. It may have had a large white collar which was briefly popular in the early 80s, but I suspect cunning on the part of my Mum. Who may well have named it as the words 'Lady Di' had a predictable effect on a 5 yr old and produced lots of doe-eyed and (unusually) demure behaviour on my part. Actually that's a thought that'll fester...
ReplyDeleteLovely fabrics and great giveaway!
Are you accepting international entries? I hope so! My favourite party dress was fuchia pink and it rustled as I walked. I had a matching hair ribbon and I felt like a princess in it whenever I wore it. I loved it - I think my mum still has it in a cupboard somewhere.

My favorite dress was yellow and frilly and I got in trouble for wearing it to school! Nurseli@aol.com
ReplyDeletepink and block spotted jive skrit with a black t shirt and hot pink braces!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite party dress was pink and frilly with 2 slips! I still have it after about 48 years:)
ReplyDeleteI can't really remember one in particular, but I do have a picture of the only birthday party I had as a child. I was wearing a white dress with some kind of trim.
ReplyDeleteI hated wearing dresses when I was little. Consequently I don't have a favourite party dress. I'm starting to come around to wearing dresses now that I'm in my 30s. :)
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness that is gorgeous fabric!! My favorite party dress was white with turquoise dots and sash and a big underslip that made it easy to twirl!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that cheater cloth!
ReplyDeleteI didn't really have party dresses as a child. I wish I had! I do remember a red & white fluffy dress I had when I was a toddler, but I only 'remember' it because there is a photo of me wearing it with one of my uncles. I DID have a room completely decked out in Strawberry Shortcake stuff. I think that's where all my frilliness went. I even had strawberry shortcake table & chairs! And my Mom made me a pink & white macrame hanging lamp for over my bed. That made me feel more like a princess than any dress could!
Thanks for the chance to win!

I am actually kind of embarassed to admit this, but.....
ReplyDeleteMy mom made me this dress with a gold lame skirt and black velvet bodice, with some gold lame roses at the waist. I LOVED IT. Seriously, I wanted to wear it every day, even in June when it was 90 degrees and black velvet was a completely inappropriate wardrobe choice. I wanted to wear it even when it didn't fit me anymore. I wanted to wear it to the grocery store. It was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen.
My favourite was a pink flowergirl dress that belonged to my cousin that I dressed up in.
